I joined CMC in November 2022 after leaving a distributor of air compressors from prominent brands such as CompAir, Hydrovane, Bambi and ABAC.

I began life there as an engineer, having spent seven years in the engineering team, before switching to sales. However, I wasn’t always a compressed air specialist. In fact, my career spans a whole spectrum of sectors including auto electrics, mechanics and groundworks.

But having worked with compressed air for some time, I can genuinely say that it’s a fascinating area – particularly on the control side. Manufacturers are now looking to get more from their compressed air system than ever before, and control systems are the gateway to achieving this.

Not that long ago, manufacturers would just leave their compressors running; energy prices were much more palatable and carbon emissions were less of a consideration. That’s obviously changed dramatically now. Manufacturers are much more motivated to understand they system’s characteristics, and it’s really interesting to see what compressed air users throughout the country are doing.

And, with smart controllers – such as those developed and manufactured by CMC – they can monitor their system at a level that was never possible until now. Whether manufacturers are interested in establishing flow, power or simply having full visibility of their compressed air system, every aspect of performance data is available at the touch of a button.

This is what attracted me to the business. CMC is renowned for being a global pioneer when it comes to compressed air controllers and has established a reputation for producing cutting edge control solutions. It’s also a good company to work for. There’s a great working environment and team ethos here, and with 40 years’ experience of creating control solutions, the business is made up of some of the industry’s most experienced and knowledgeable people.

As Business Development Manager, I mainly handle sales and account management – so building new business and ensuring that our existing customers have everything they need. Whether I’m promoting the growing product portfolio, the wider brand or showcasing what our software and hardware can do, there’s always something to work on.

Outside of work, I’m still an engineer at heart. I love repairing and servicing cars for friends and family – and I still have a passion for all things four-wheeled.
